Location

The City of Greater Bendigo is located in the geographical centre of Victoria, while the Bendigo Exhibition Centre is located less than three kilometres from the centre of Bendigo, at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds, Holmes Road, Bendigo.

Climate

Bendigo’s location on the northern fringe of the Great Dividing Range means it enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate. The region avoids extremes in weather such as snow and strong winds and averages 240 rain free days per year with an average January temperature of 29 degrees and 12 degrees in July.

Population

Greater Bendigo ABS Estimated Resident Population as at June 2005 is 95, 968 with an annual growth rate of 1.6 per cent, with over 75 per cent living in the urban area. Bendigo is Victoria’s fastest growing regional city.

Bendigo boasts some of the best retail therapy in regional Victoria with four major shopping areas and a myriad of small, boutique stores, filled with hand-picked stock, all unique and original.
